Tryptophan & Terror – My Favorite Thanksgiving Horror Films

Some families watch football on Thanksgiving, others enjoy the Macy’s Day Parade, but in my family we watch horror movies *shocked gasp*. Actually, several days before Thanksgiving the kids and I start watching turkey related terror films because we have several that we enjoy, and here are our top 3 that we actually watch on Thanksgiving day.

Pilgrim (2019)

This movie is my all-time favorite Thanksgiving horror film, and the best part is that it is based on true events that happened to the writer of the script. The plot of the film centers around a woman who decides to hire pilgrim reenactors to teach her family about what Thanksgiving is all about. Unfortunately for the family, these are actors that are deadly serious about staying in character and proving to everyone that there might be a thing such as too much gratitude.

This film is by Hulu and you can only watch it if you subscribe to the streaming service.

Thankskilling (2009)

I have a teenage son, and like most teenage boys he enjoys gross out humor and seeing boobs and Thankskilling has all of that and more in 67 minutes of campy, puppet filled comedy and gore. This low budget film is about several college students who are trying to get home for Thanksgiving when they run into a supernaturally possessed Turkey who is in a very “fowl” mood and chases the students around with a chainsaw. You might lose a few brain cells watching this film, but it is truly worth it.

You can watch this for free with ads on Vudu.com right now.

Kristy (2014)

Being alone during the holidays sucks. Being alone during the holidays and getting chased around by crazed killers is even worse, and that is the pickle that Kristy finds herself in. Not being able to afford the trip home for Thanksgiving, Kristy tries to make the best of being alone until she finds herself being stalked by group of crazed people who like to record themselves catching and murdering young women and putting the videos on the internet. Unfortunately for them however, Kristy will not go willingly and fights back in a bloody “Home Alone” like way.

You can watch Kristy for free with ads on Freevee.
